Hi! I'm Kathy Gunderson, and I am a part of the fantastic resource specialist team at Sycolin Creek Elementary School. This is my fourth year at Sycolin Creek. Before joining Sycolin Creek I taught at Sully Elementary, Discovery Elementary, and Sterling Elementary. I am looking forward to a wonderful year filled with learning, exploration, growth, and fun!
I have twenty-three years of teaching experience. Wow, that's hard to believe! I think it's true that when you really enjoy something the time just flies by. I started my career with a Bachelor's degree from the College of William and Mary. I then taught kindergarten, first, and second grade before going back to school for a Master's degree in special education from San Diego State University. I have since taught in a variety of special education positions.
My family includes my husband, Chris, and my children Erin (25) and Kyle (22). Besides Virginia, I have lived in Maryland, California, Germany, and Spain. Traveling and learning about different cultures are definitely favorite hobbies of mine.
For now, I'm looking forward to a super year with all the Sycolin Creek Salamanders!
