Ms. Sigrid Butler
Hello! My name is Sigrid Butler and I am coming to special education with a background in nursing. I graduated in December 2017 from Old Dominion University with a master's degree in special education which includes a concentration in adapted curriculum and certification in autism spectrum disorder. This is my second year at Discovery Elementary as the lead teacher of a K - 2 self-contained program specifically designed for students diagnosed with emotional disturbances. My goal is to create a safe environment where students feel comfortable, understood, and happy about coming to school.
Personally, I have been a Loudoun County resident for the past 28 years and have witnessed tremendous growth and change in our schools, neighborhoods, and economy. My four children, all of whom graduated from LCPS, are grown and flown. I have a daughter who lives with her husband in Ashburn Village and three sons, who are all serving in the U.S. Army. When not in school, my husband, an Arlington County police captain, and I enjoy outdoor activities like running and hiking and love spending time with our dog, Chance.
