Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Diane My-Dung Diep Le

I was born in Vietnam but grew up in Los Angeles, California.  For the past 28 years, I have been living in Loudoun County, Virginia.

I graduated from California State University of Northridge (CSUN) with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Psychology, and also completed courses in Elementary Education and in Early Childhood Special Education Program there.  In December 2020, I completed the Shenandoah University's Career Switcher Program, with an endorsement in ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages).

Working with children has been my calling.  I have worked as an Early Intervention Specialist at the PWC Parent-Infant Education Program, a coach of the Woodgrove HS debate team, an art teacher, a behavior specialist at Psychological Support Services,  a residential group home counselor for the Linden Center, and a teacher assistant in several elementary schools.

I arrived in the U.S. knowing a few English words and only the basics of Vietnamese. However, as I advanced in my education,  I have developed a love for the English Language and I hope to inspire my students to love the language as well.  This will be my fourth year at Discovery ES as an EL teacher.  I am looking forward to a wonderful learning discovery with my first-grade students.

As for interests and hobbies, I have too many.  I enjoy reading historical fiction books; gardening, crafting, drawing, painting; and exercising. I have a lifelong fascination with libraries; whichever city I travel to, I will make it my mission to visit one.  Growing up in California has instilled in me a deep appreciation for nature and a love of camping.    I believe in community engagement and volunteerism. Since college, I have been participating in many volunteer activities. I am fluent in Vietnamese, both in writing and speaking.
