Hello Shark Families!  My name is Julie Leach, and I will be teaching 5th grade this year at Moorefield Station Elementary School!  This will be my 17th year teaching in Loudoun County. My first 11 years I taught 4th grade at Cedar Lane Elementary School before coming to the opening of Moorefield Station in 2013. I moved to 5th grade four years ago and love getting my students ready for their next educational chapter, middle school!

Thirty years ago I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and a multiple subject teaching credential both from the University of California, Davis.  I am native to California, yet have lived much of my adult life here in Northern Virginia.  One of the things I loved about teaching 4th grade was the ability to explore all of the incredible historical sites of this great state. This year in 5th grade, my students will be learning about the regions of the United States and all of its 50 states and capitols! My family includes my wonderful husband, my 29 year old sonwho is an sports conditioning coach and his wife who just earned her PhD in physical therapy, my special 26 year old daughter, and my 22 year old daughter who graduated from Christopher Newport University last May and is working their this year. She majored in psychology and minored in Art. She will then head to grad-school next year to earn a masters in Art Therapy! All three of my children grew up attending our local schools in Ashburn. We also have three adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, 13 year old Sampson, 5 year old Rufus, and 3 year old Murphy!

My excitement is overflowing as I think about our new adventures this year at Moorefield Station. I am looking forward to meeting each one of my students as we begin our time together as Sharks.
