ECSE AM TEACHER

Hi! I am so excited to be here at Discovery!  This is my sixth year with Discovery.  Before that, I was a long-term substitute teacher multiple times at various schools.  Before starting my family, I worked as a school psychologist; I earned my graduate degree from Gallaudet University in DC.

My family and I  have lived in Ashburn for 20 years, and love it here! My husband and I have three children: Kelsey just graduated from Virginia Tech and is planning to go to graduate school at Mary Mount.  Sean and Aiden are at Virginia Tech. You might see me going to VT to see my son high jump and go to football games.

Mrs. Skye Sultan

Welcome to Preschool! My name is Skye Sultan and I am the new afternoon ECSE teacher at Discovery Elementary. This will be my 6th year teaching ECSE for LCPS and my 7th year working for LCPS. Many of you know I was the teaching assistant for Carly Carother's last year. I also have teaching experience from St.David's Preschool in Ashburn. I hold both a Bachlor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Master of Education degree in Early Childhood Special education both from James Madison University. Go Dukes!

I live in Ashburn with my husband, 3 children(Gabby 16, Mallory 15, Brock 10), dog Anna(from Frozen movie), and cat Rosie. When my first was born, I decided to stay home and stop teaching ECSE. When my 2 daughters went to preschool I went back to work teaching at St. David's Preschool for the 3 years they were in attendance. In 2011 I went back to staying at home after the birth of my son Brock. Last year I decided to join Brock at Discovery and I took the assistant positon in ECSE. I loved being a Discovery parent but found I was missing a classroom of my own. This year I am able to take Carly's place as the lead PM teacher since I kept up with course work during my time away and my licensure is up to date. I am thrilled to be here and can't wait to spend more time with my returning ECSE students and new students.

When I am not at Discovery you will most likely find me at sports events watching my children play. As a family we love to hike and travel. In 2020 we went on a 26 day RV trip to 7 National Parks. I love all things Disney and going to the movies as well. If I happen to find a quiet moment I will grab a book and a cup of coffee.

I look forward to working with you and your child and having a fabulous 2021-2022 school year at Discovery!
