Degrees and Certifications:
BFA Graphic Design, Longwood Unverisity
My name is Kyla Jenkins. I have been with Loudoun County Schools for 12 years, and at County for 7 years. I teach Art 2, 3, 4, AP Studio and Photography. I cosponsor Art Club.
I graduated from Longwood University in 2005 with a BFA and my K-12 Teachers License and a concentration in Graphic Design.
I emphasize students owning their artwork and finding their own creative "voice". Advanced level art students will be exposed to more advanced techniques and work towards developing a cohesive portfolio. Much of the work is independently chosen by the student and we work together to refine their technique and vision.
All Art students are required to keep a Journal, and each quarter we will use it to work on more skill building as well as creative interpretations of Big Ideas.
Projects are 100 points, Journals are 50 points, I grade using a total points system.
My grading rubric is avaliable if you wish to look at it.
Please email me if you have questions.
