Committee Assignments: Ms. Sheridan chairs both the Equity Committee and the Specialized Programs & Centers Committee. She also serves on the Student Services Committee, the Technology Steering Committee and is the liaison to the School Health Advisory Board.

Brenda Sheridan was born and raised in upstate New York and earned a BS in Criminal Justice from Rochester Institute of Technology. She has lived in Sterling for 21 years with her husband Keith, and they have two children who attended Forest Grove ES, Sterling Middle, and Park View High School. Both children currently attend Virginia state colleges.
Brenda was a LCPS substitute teacher from 2004 to 2011 and was the Forest Grove ES 2006-2007 Substitute of the Year. She currently works for Perspecta as a Security Analyst. Before returning to work, Brenda dedicated her time as a volunteer in many community organizations including: Park View Project Graduation Co-Chair, Park View PTSA President, Park View Fine Arts Booster Founder and President, Sterling Middle PTSA President, Girl Scout Troop 1053 Cookie Coordinator, Girl Scout Troop 1053 Silver Award Coordinator, Boy Scout Troop 950 Outings Coordinator, Boy Scout Troop 950 Merit Badge Counselor, Sterling Park Seahawks Team Coordinator, Treasurer, LLBFL Sterling Cowboys Parent Coordinator, Sterling Playmakers member and volunteer, Forest Grove ES PTA President, and Forest Grove ES PTA Vice-President.
Brenda also served on the Virginia PTA Board of Managers in several capacities. She was the Virginia PTA President 2013-2015, Virginia PTA President-Elect 2011-2013, Virginia PTA Vice President 2009-2011, Virginia PTA Membership Committee Chair 2007-2009 and the Virginia PTA Hunt District Director 2005-2007. She was awarded a Virginia PTA Honorary Lifetime Membership and is a Virginia PTA President's Honor Award Recipient.
Brenda also served at the national level as National PTA Board Member Representative 2015-2017, National PTA Finance Committee Member, National PTA Strategic Plan Steering Committee Member, and as a Member of two State Restructuring Committees. She is also a National PTA Life Achievement Award Recipient.
Brenda was appointed in June 2011 to the LCPS School Board and re-elected in 2011, 2015 and 2019. She has served as Vice Chair for 4 years and chairs the Legislative and Policy Committee and the LCPS Ad-hoc Committee on Equity. She also served as a VSBA Legislative Positions Committee Member, LCPS Finance and Facilities Committee Member, Discipline Committee Member, Charter School Committee Member, MSAAC Liaison and as the LCSB VSBA Delegate. She formerly served on the HRTD (formerly Personnel) Committee, Student Support Services (formerly Health, Safety, Wellness, and Transportation) Committee, and as Gifted Advisory Committee (GAC) Liaison, Head Start Policy Council Liaison and School Business Partnership EC Liaison.
