Welcome to Third Grade at Frederick Douglass Elementary! I hope you had a restful summer and you are ready for an exciting school year in the classroom! My name is Mrs.Tucker and I will be your teacher this year.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I have been teaching for the past 28 years! I grew up in upstate New York and moved to Virginia at the start of my teaching career. I attended Union College in Schenectady, NY, where I received my bachelor's degree in English. I then went on to earn my Masters in Elementary Education from St. Michael's College in Vermont. I now live in Ashburn with my husband and 2 sons, who are 19 and 21 years old. I love to read, exercise, travel with my family, spend time with friends and go camping in our RV! We also have a dog named Millie.
We are going to learn about many interesting topics this year. In science we will learn all about ecosystems, animal adaptations, simple machines, and many other exciting topics. In social studies, we’ll discover ancient cultures like Egypt, China, Greece, Rome and Mali. We will explore math concepts such as geometry, multiplication, division, and fractions. You should get to know your basic facts well! We will learn how to be strong readers and writers. I am really excited about getting to know you! Get ready for an awesome year of learning, fun and growth. 🙂
Please always reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. My email address is Amy.Tucker@lcps.org.
