Ms. Annamika Hacikyan
My name is Annamika Hacikyan (Coach H. or Ms. H.) and I am the Health & Physical Education Department Chair at Rock Ridge High School. I have been an HPE teacher for 7 years. Prior to this, I was a Special Education Teacher at both the Elementary and High School level. I am part of the team that opened Rock Ridge in 2014. In 2017 I became the department change and I have enjoyed working with a team that is student centered.
As an alumni of Loudoun Valley I feel fortunate to teach in such a fantastic school district and am excited to be part of Rock Ridge High School. Go Phoenix! I earned my B.S. in Education from Old Dominion University. I then went on to earn my M.S. in Education from George Mason University. Most recently I attended George Washington University to complete my licensure in Educational Leadership and Administration.
In addition to being the Department Chair at Rock Ridge, I am also the Activities Coordinator. I enjoy this role because it allows me to work with students to create a learning environment that represents their personal interest through clubs & activities.
I have also been a coach. I have also been a head Cross Country Coach and Head Track coach at Briar Woods. I have enjoyed coaching students and working with them as they grew as athletes and student leaders.
The Rock Ridge Health and Physical Education Department strives to create a learning environment that focuses on a wide range of wellness. This wellness includes both physical and mental wellness. We have worked over the summer to create new lessons that integrate all wellness during both our gym and classroom rotations. The lessons are designed to reach learners of all needs at all levels.
