Welcom Lions! I'm so excited to be the 8th grade Dean and help prepare the class of 2024 for high school! I'm also excited to prepare for our new Lion's that are coming to us next year.
I have been at Lunsford since it opened, eight years ago, in a variety of different positions. Prior to that I taught in a variety of special education settings in Fairfax County for 9 years. I was born and raised in Fairfax County and attend West Springfield High School. I have my undergraduate degree in special education from the University of North Carolina Wilminton. After I moved back to Northern Virginia and started my teaching career I also attended George Mason University where I recieved my masters in New Professional Studies: Teaching. After teaching students with autism for a number of years I went back to school again and received a graduate certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis. I'm currently persuing an administration certification at Shendoah University. I have taught Special Education for 16 years including students with a variety of disabilities and at different levels of support. Prior to becoming the dean at Lunsford I was the special education department chair here at Lunsford. I am still a special education designee and attend special education trainings and meetings.
I am excited to watch these 8th graders transition to high school and to welcome our next class of Lions! Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns!
