• 9th Grade Health Syllabus

    Dominion High School

    Health Requirements:

*Units:  Personal Fitness, 5 Nutrition, 7 Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs, FIRST AID, CPR, AED and  Family Life Education

*There will be a quiz or a test at the end of each chapter.  You will need to make sure that you are keeping up with your class work.  You will also be required to take an exam at the end of each semester.

*There will be a notebook check the day you take your chapter test.  All class items will be checked off for completion and that they are in the correct order.  A sample notebook is kept in the front of the room and is available to look at during the last 5 minutes of class. This will be graded and count for 100 points.  This is a great way to earn points!

    Bring to class every day:

Health Notebook (1 inch binder with 5 dividers labeled 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and tests)

    Pen/Pencil

    Paper

    Agenda

    Reading Book

    Good attitude

    Water bottle if needed

ABC’s of the Health Room Rules:

*All of the rules that are in the student handbook also apply.

    1. Appropriate behavior required.  (In your seat with kick-off before the bell rings working independently, raising hand to ask or answer question, listening to classmates, staying in seat unless instructed otherwise, and not disrupting student learning or my teaching.)
    2. Be polite and positive. (Please, thank you, excuse me, no negative talk, NO PUT DOWNS.)
    3. Come prepared.  (Notebook, pen/pencil, paper, agenda, reading book, good attitude.)
    4. Do your best.  (Homework will be determined with how hard you work in class… if you use your time wisely, you will have no homework.)

    Grades:

*Your health grade is computed by how many points you have earned in the entire quarter divided by the total possible points.  This equals a percentage grade.  Your health grade will be averaged with your P.E. grade to determine your nine weeks grade.  This will be graded along with your notebook checks.
