Extra! Extra!…READ All About It!!!
Come join the Mountain View Elementary Reading Patch Club. The Mountain View Elementary library media center and PTA are working together to boost reading among all of our students throughout the year.
To join all you have to do is READ some great books. There are different categories based on the genre of books read. There’s also a category just for fun. Choose the patch you wish to earn and start reading!!!
“I Love Reading” Patch - earn by reading or listening to 30 pictures books
Caldecott Award Patch – earn by reading or listening to 25
Please fill out the reading log given to you by the library or you can download it from the library page on the Mountain View website. Once you have met the requirements of earning your patch or patches, please have a parent sign the reading log and return it to the library at the beginning of the school year.
Students can choose from 1 different patch categories (genres). In order to earn a patch, the student must read 5 chapter books from that category (genre).
The categories include:
- Animal Titles
- Mystery - Historical Fiction
- Fantasy - Award Winners
- Sports - Girl Power (strong female character)
- Fairy Tales (chapter books based on fairy tales)
- African American (written by African American author or based on African American characters
- Caldecott Winners – read 25 Caldecott winners (keep on a reading log – no review necessary)
After having read a book, please fill out the reading form given to you by the library or you can download it from the library page on the Mountain View website. Once you have met the requirements of earning your patch or patches, please have a parent sign the reading form and return it to the library.
