Third graders enhance their mathematics foundation and move toward more consistent use of mental computation using supplement such as Math 24.  Key areas of study include place value, rounding numbers, developing fluency with multiplication and division facts, area, time, money, solid shapes, lines, angles, congruence, and addition and subtraction of fractions and decimals using manipulatives. Experimentation, simulation, modeling, extending patterns, and logical deduction processes expand problem solving capabilities. Students relate mathematics to other areas of curriculum and identify real life applications of mathematics concepts, such as making change, telling time, and reading thermometers.
