• Greetings parents and students! I hope you all had an excellent summer. My name is Chet Huey and I am a fourth grade teacher at Countryside Elementary. This will be my seventh year teaching at our wonderful school. My first two years I taught fourth grade. It was during my second year that I had the honor of winning "Teacher of the Year" for our school. For my third year, I looped up with my class to fifth grade. This was a great experience in many ways, but especially because I know what is truly expected of a fourth grader going into fifth grade, and what they need to learn. Three years ago, I went back down to fourth grade and have been here ever since. I am very excited to teach fourth grade yet again this school year!

I am a graduate of the Multiple Abilities Program at the University of Alabama, which gave me a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. I am a huge Alabama football fan... Roll Tide!

Fourth grade is such a fun year! Every day we will work on reading, writing, math, and science. In addition, something that makes fourth grade so different from every other grade is that we have Virginia Studies each day. Students will learn about Virginia's history from the settlement of Jamestown in 1607, all the way until today, and everything in between. They will be Virginia experts by the end of the year!

I use a lot of technology, hands-on activities, music, and art in my lessons. I also work really hard to build positive relationships with all of my students. I go out of my way each day to show them how much I care about them. We work hard in my classroom, but we also have a ton of fun. I promise you, there will never be a dull moment in Room 27! If you ever have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me through email at chet.huey@lcps.org or you may call the school and I will get back to you. I believe communication is vital to success. This school year is going to be so much fun! I can't wait for the first day and meeting my new class!
