The ACCESS for ELs 2.0® is a large-scale test that addresses the English language development standards and model performance indicators developed by the WIDA Consortium to assess the four language domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

As required in Section 1005 of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA), school divisions must annually assess the English language proficiency of English learners in Kindergarten through Grade 12. Students must receive an overall composite score of 4.4 to be considered exited from the EL program. They are monitored for the next 4 years to ensure their continued success.

The ACCESS test window opens in January, and we typically test from February - March. We do not receive the score reports until June, and they typically get sent to parents at the start of the next school year. Sometimes the reports are available in ParentVue sooner.
