• The Catoctin Elementary School guidance department is pleased to offer the opportunity for your child to participate in small group counseling.  Small counseling groups consist of four to eight students who meet with the counselor for 30 minutes once a week for approximately six weeks.

The following counseling groups will be offered at Catoctin during the 2019-20 school year:

    • Changing Families: This group is designed for children of divorce/separation.  Students are encouraged to share their experiences, thoughts and feelings with other group members.

    • Cool Cats: This group will help students identify the situations which provoke anger and help them express their anger in appropriate, healthy ways.

    • Forever Friends: This group will help students make and keep friends by building social skills needed for good peer relationships.

    • Good Grief: This group is designed for students who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

    • Marvelous Me: This group will improve self-esteem by helping students realize that everyone has talents, thoughts and feelings that make them special.

    • Self-Control Patrol: This group will help students develop self-control, make good decisions and find success in the school environment.
    • Stress Busters:  This group will provide strategies to assist students with school or test anxiety
