• Welcome to Broad Run Wrestling
    2011 - Season in Review
The 2011 season was a remarkable one for the Spartan wrestlers.  After starting the season off with a 3-2 record at the Potomac Falls Duals, the Spartans went on to an overall record of 23-19 in duals.  Along the way, the Spartans were able to pick up a 2nd place finish at the VivaLoudoun Tournament at Stone Bridge High School, and won the "Get Your Bell Rung" Tournament at Woodgrove High School for the most team pins in duals matches.  Even more impressive was the Dulles District record of 6-2, losing only to Freedom and a close match to Potomac Falls by 1 match.
The season got even better as we entered into the post-season as the Spartans qualified 11 of 14 wrestlers, only 4 of which were in the tournament last year.  As a team, Broad Run placed 3rd overall in the District, falling just 5 points out of 2nd place.  At the Region II Tournament, even new heights were achieved as Broad Run qualified 4 wrestlers for States, two of which were in the Region Finals!  This is the most wrestlers that have qualified in one year in over 10 years, and a Top 10 team finish in the Region Tournament was icing on the cake.
The Virgnia State Tournament was a great end to a wonderful season for Broad Run.  All four of our qualifiers were able to win at least one match, making each of them Top 12 in the State at their weight-classes.  Adding to that was Angel Rios (11) placing 8th and taking home a medal.
Off-Season has now begun and any and all are welcome to attend.  We have our tournaments planned and workouts ready.  Feel free to stop by any time and see the action or email us for more infoermation!

    Spartan Wrestling History
Broad Run Wrestling has been around for over 40 years and is still going strong.  Last year was marked by major accomplishments by many young men, and this year there is a new batch looking to step up and fill those shoes.  The overall standards of tradition, dedication and character have and will continue to be the backbone to Spartan Wrestling as we move into our next season.
    Our Philosophy
The Broad Run philosophy of wrestling has always focused on helping our wrestlers become not only the best wrestler they can be, but the best person they can be in every part of their life.  While wrestling is a fantastic sport, there are things that are just as important as the desire to wrestle.
Academics is always a priority.  Many high school students will not make it to college with a scholarship, and even if they have the talent, they still must have the grades.
Hard work is a necessity in wrestling and in life.  Very rarely in life does someone get something that they did not work to earn.  If you have goals, hard work will help you to get to where you want to be.
Success does not come just from winning, there are plenty of ways to be successful, and we will work to make you as successful in life and sports as we possibly can.
Our "new" wrestling room, was the weight room before what it is today.  In 2004, with the new additions and renovations, our new room was born.  Thanks to the wonderful artistic talent of Kelly Baltimore, a 2005 graduate, and the help of her friends, our room is personalized to the Spartan Wrestling Tradition.  The record boards, which show the District, Regional and State winners for each year, were built and mounted by Coach Puterio and are updated year by year.  The Broad Run Wrestling Room is a room of pride, and with time, will be a room of history.

    Past Champions and Records
This section of the site is meant to show the incredible success that has come from the Spartan Wrestling program.  Since 1976 we have had numerous champions, and there are many more to come in the future.  Not only do we have champions, but records as well.  It is only right to acknowledge those who have done incredible things in Broad Run Wrestling history, as well as give those in the room now something to strive for.

Our program is one of the few high school sports that is almost completely self sufficient.  What does that mean?  it means with that we purchase and pay for all of the things we need either by tournaments or by our fundraising through the Booster Club.  Not only that, but we have FANTASTIC sponsors who help us to get the following things...
Wrestling mats, gear, singlets, pay for tournaments, camps and more.
