Hello everyone! My name is Mrs. Courtney Brown and I am so excited to be a member of this fantastic first-grade team.  My educational background includes a B.A. in Sociology from Colorado State University and a Masters in Elementary Education from Shenandoah University.  I am from Colorado, but I have lived in the Washington area for the past twenty-plus years. 

I have 4 children.  Laird is our oldest son and he is in 11th grade this year at Woodgrove H.S.  Madison is in 9th grade at Woodgrove H.S .  My youngest children are twins, Pierce, and Audrey; they are in 7th grade at Harmony M.S. .  I am so lucky to have my family and work so closely connected and close. Mr. Brown is an airline pilot with United Airlines and flies all over the world; sometimes I can go with him! I have a sweet and silly dog named Reno. He is a Shepard-Doodle.  I talk about my family and our pets a lot when I teach, so I can make connections with others.   I can't wait to hear your funny stories, your favorite things to do and see, and ALL about your family and pets!

My hobbies include reading, sports, hiking, cooking, tennis, and bike riding.  I am happiest in nature.  I love animals and enjoy learning and teaching about them.  My favorite foods are avocados, pizza, salmon, sushi, and crab.  I LOVE ice cream; but usually, I must eat healthy stuff like fruits and vegetables.  I love the colors blue and purple, but of course, green and yellow are fun to wear (go Crocs).  My favorite part of the year is the fall, but I love the other seasons almost as much. If I had three wishes in the world, they would be to know how to play the guitar and sing really well,  bring the beach four hours closer, and have the agility of a squirrel!  :)

I hope we have some things in common. I am sure we will enjoy getting to know each other more.
