The Liberty Library Team
Mrs. Coleman (Librarian)
My name is Alicia Coleman and I am excited to begin my eighth year as the librarian for Liberty Elementary School. I earned my M.S.L.S. from The Catholic University of America, with a concentration in school libraries, in January 2009. I have worked as a substitute K-6 classroom teacher and substitute K-12 librarian in Fairfax County Public Schools as well as a part-time evening librarian for ECPI University, Manassas Campus, since earning my degree. Having spent many hours volunteering in my children's schools and being involved with the P.T.A., I decided to pursue a second career as a Librarian. I spend my free time outside biking, hiking, and gardening; or inside swimming and reading.
Mrs. Varachi (Librarian)
My name is Christine Varachi and I have been a half-time librarian at Liberty on and off for the past 7 years. I am so happy to be back at Liberty this year! I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in Elementary Education. I taught fourth and fifth grade in the classroom for four years before going back to school at Catholic University to earn my M.L.I.S in Library and Information Science. I have a daughter named Katie who is currently a fifth grader here at Liberty. This year I will be teaching all of the kindergarten and first grade students in the library. In my spare time, I love reading (obviously!), hanging out with my family and playing with our dog, Cookie. I am so excited to share my love of books and reading with the students at Liberty!
Mrs. Nies (Library Assistant)
My name is Kelli Nies. I am so excited to be the Library Assistant at Liberty Elementary School. I worked as a substitute classroom teacher, library assistant and librarian for Loudoun County schools before accepting this position in the fall of 2012. I have lived in South Riding for 22 years with my husband, Ed, and our three children Nicholas, Shawn, and Gabbi. When not attending our children’s sporting and school events, I enjoy reading, knitting and spending time with my friends! I’m looking forward to spending another year with all the kids in the library!
