• WordMasters

WordMasters is a national competition for students in grades 3-8 which encourages growth in vocabulary and verbal reasoning. Over 4,200 school teams, from 50 states, participated last year. Unlike other language-arts contests, which emphasize grammar and punctuation, this competition addresses higher-level word-comprehension and logical abilities. It does this by challenging students to solve analogies, and it draws these analogies from a special vocabulary list, which students study before each meet.

The challenge consists of three 30-minute analogy-solving meets at our school. Students choosing to participate in this independent activity must study the vocabulary list outside of school. Please visit www.wordmasterschallenge.com to determine whether this challenge is appropriate for your child. If your child is ready to make a commitment to participate in this enrichment activity, please complete the registration form by October 10, 2019. Any questions can be directed to Suzanne Lyles at lylewood@verizon.net.
