Welcome to Music at Arcola Elementary!
In music class, we sing and dance, play instruments and games,
listen and read, and compose and create music of all types!
Music is a vital ingredient to a child’s education.
It is the ultimate union of aural, visual, and kinesthetic learning, and it is universally suited to fit
every child’s individual need. Music builds a foundation for math, reading, and language skills;
develops an appreciation for the fine arts; explores foreign countries and cultures;
encourages imagination and creativity; and enhances the pure enjoyment of school.
All students at Arcola are musicians, and therefore every student participates in music class weekly.
Both music teachers, Mr. Williams and Ms. Worthington teach the students in combined classes each week.
Students in Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th grade have Mr. Williams as their primary music teacher for one half hour, twice a week, and students in 1st grade, 3rd grade, and 5th grade have Ms. Worthington as their primary music teacher for one half hour, twice a week. In addition, students in 4th and 5th grade can voluntarily participate in the award winning Arcola Elementary School Chorus.
