My name is Denise Hess.  I came to Rosa Lee Carter Elementary in 2007  from Winchester Avenue Elementary in Martinsburg, WV.  I hold a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Shepherd College and a master’s degree in Elementary Education from West Virginia University.  I have been teaching for twenty-seven years.  During that time, I taught kindergarten for four years and first grade for five years and have been teaching third grade for the past eighteen years.  I was a three time nominee for Berkeley County Teacher of the Year and have served several leadership roles such as Communication Leader, Faculty Senate President, School Support Team member, Team Leader and PTO Vice President.  I am looking forward to another year of working with the students and community of Rosa Lee Carter and hope to motivate my class to succeed as learners and to recognize their potential both in the classroom and in the outside world.
