Mrs. Patti Pettit

As the Resource teacher at Waterford Elementary School, I am truly fortunate to work with students and teachers across all grade levels from kindergarten through fifth grade. This is my tenth year teaching at Waterford Elementary School and my twenty-third year teaching in Loudoun County.

Prior to joining the Waterford staff, I taught at Blue Ridge Middle School for twelve years. During those first two years, I worked as a Resource teacher. For the following ten years, I taught sixth grade U.S. History as a general education teacher.

In addition to Waterford Elementary School and Blue Ridge Middle School, I’ve taught at Loudoun County High School, Sterling Middle School, the Alternative High School for Riverhead Central School District, and Southold UFSD in New York.

After graduating from LIU Post with a B.S. degree in Elementary and Special Education and teaching for several years, I decided to take time away from teaching to raise our three children. During this time, I began a graduate studies program at Stony Brook University until the time our family relocated to Loudoun.

During my leisure time I enjoy kayaking, paddle-boarding, gardening, camping, hiking, cross-country skiing, as well as spending time with our two dogs (both rescued from a shelter), and two parrots, one a rescued macaw, the other a Sun Conure.
I'm looking forward to working in the classrooms at Waterford again this year. I enjoy teaching and am delighted to be a part of all of the great learning that takes place in our school.

       Learning is a lifelong journey.
