• Third Grade Music - An Overview

In Third Grade Music students will focus on the basic elements of music: rhythm, melody, harmony, form, expression, and timbre. Regarding rhythm, they will practice reading and writing basic rhythmic patterns using quarter, eighth, half, dotted half, and whole notes and rests. Regarding melody they will practice reading and writing pentatonic melodic patterns (do' - la - slo - mi - re - do - sol,) on the 5-line staff. They will also begin to learn about scales. There will be a 3rd grade show this year as well.
