• Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to another school year! We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves. We have two amazing school counselors at our school, Kaitlyn Gerber and Jeanne Peterson. Ms. Gerber works with Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade students, and Ms. Peterson works with students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade.

Loudoun County Public Schools approach to school counseling is educational and preventative. We provide a comprehensive school counseling program focusing on academic, personal/social and career development, within a safe, supportive, caring and nurturing environment.  Our program is aligned with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) national model and covers standards for ASCA, the state of Virginia, and Loudoun County.

We look forward to working with you and your child and hope you have an enjoyable school year. Please feel free to contact us at Jeanne.Peterson@lcps.org or Kaitlyn.Gerber@lcps.org or by phone at (571) 434-3270.

    Sincerely,

    Jeanne Peterson & Kaitlyn Gerber

  • Classroom Lessons

All students will participate in classroom “Lessons in Leadership” focusing on academic, personal/social and career success. These lessons will take place throughout the 2019-2020 school year.

    Small Group Counseling

Small group counseling is an opportunity for students to learn and practice new skills, strengthen existing skills/and or learn ways to cope with difficult situations/problems. Typically groups take place for 6-8 sessions during the school day. Groups are formed based on students’ needs and possible topics are: friendship/social skills, managing emotions, stress management, changing families and grief and loss.

    Individual Counseling

Brief individual counseling is available at the request of parents/guardians, teachers, or student self-referral. Referrals to outside agencies will be made if the student’s needs require more support than available at school.
