Dear Theatre Dept Students and Families,
We are happy to announce that we would like to plan a trip to Los Angeles on March 26-30th, 2020.
This trip was in the planning works since April this year. However, due to recent changes and unforeseeable circumstances, we apologize if the announcement is coming a little late for your planning purposes. We are giving you the best notice we could. We do realize it also makes the payment period shorter.
As late as this is, we hope we could make this trip a success. So far, this is the only trip planned by the Theatre Boosters for the year. So, we do want to make this happen for the students. It will up to all of you to decide and make this a reality.
The deadline for commitment is Oct 18th. if you would like to be on this trip, please send in a check for $100 made out to RVHS Theatre Boosters by the date. If the trip is canceled, we will give the check back to you.
Please sign up before then. If we do not get enough students, the trip will be canceled.
We have invited the Choir Dept to join us in this trip. Therefore, it will be a joint Theatre/Choir Dept venture. All students in Theatre and Choir are welcomed to join the trip. They are:
- Drama 1, 2, 3 & 4
- Musical Theatre
- Technical Theatre
- Women’s Chorus
- Men’s Chorus
- Advanced Vocal Ensemble
- Advanced Treble Ensemble
This this is organized by RVHS Theatre Boosters with the coordination of Explorica Tours. All payments (except the first $100 commitment deposit) will be done via the company and the tour will be handled and coordinated by their tour agents. The deposit will be added to the total due. However, if the trip does not get enough interest, the deposit will be returned back to you.
Trip Cost Estimates:
The final cost of the trip is dependent upon the total number of participants. For students’ hotel room accommodations, there will be 4 occupants per room. The approximate student cost breakdown is based on the number of student sign up below:
15-19 students: $1854 each
20-24 students: $1762
45+ : $1581
All payments (except the deposit) will be done online from each committed student/chaperone’s Explorica account once the trip is confirmed. The traveler will set up their own individual accounts with Explorica and then gets to choose the payment method, either to utilize the monthly payment plan or the manual payment plan. The monthly payment plan breaks the cost down into equal monthly payments that are collected automatically from whatever credit card the participant uses to sign up. The manual payment plan allows the participant to make payments towards their tour fee whenever they’d like for as much as they’d like just as long as the entire fee is paid off 95 days prior to departure.
Parents -- Please consider chaperoning!
We will need at least 2 adult chaperones for the minimum number of students (15). It is an LCPS requirement that we provide one adult chaperone for every 10 students. If we do not get 1 chaperone per 10 students, the trip cannot take place.
