My name is Mindy Scott. This will be my 18th year teaching at Little River and my 14th year teaching first-grade. I earned my B.S. from George Mason University and my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Marymount University. I am a life-long learner! I've completed over 30 additional graduate credits since earning my Master's Degree.
My husband Greg and I are the proud parents of two sons. Both of my boys are Little River graduates. My oldest son, Alex, is a 5th-grade teacher at Lowes Island Elementary School in Loudoun County. My youngest son, Brian, attends Virginia Tech and is majoring in Architecture/Industrial Design. He will graduate in May 2024. In my free time, I enjoy going to JMU and VT football games, cooking, walkind outside, playing games, and spending time with my friends and family.
I love teaching 1st grade! First-grade students are naturally curious about the world around them. It is a year of great growth for students as they learn to read, write, and refine their developing literacy and math skills. My goal in the classroom is to instill a lifelong love of learning through active, hands-on, and cooperative learning experiences. I focus on building a classroom community in which students feel safe, happy, care about others, and support each other's learning. Please do not hesitate to contact me throughout the year. Together we can make first-grade a wonderful year for your child!
