My name is Michelle Amend. I hold a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from George Mason University. I am certified to teach all subjects from NK-4. I also earned my Masters of Education through the Initiatives in Educational Transformation Program at GMU. I was nominated for the Washington Post-Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher and LCPS Teacher of the Year award in 2012 and 2020.I was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, but grew up in Northern Virginia. My husband and I owned a candy store in Arlington, VA for several years. I then taught first grade for seven years, but now enjoy working with Kindergarten friends. This is my nineteenth year teaching Kindergarten at "The River". Prior to teaching at Little River, I served as both a LRE PTA board member and as a room mom for my children's classes. My 3 children are proud to have called Little River "home". I love to read, run marathons, and go exploring with my family. I consider each day a new adventure and love singing, laughing, and learning with my students.
