• AP Latin grading procedures

In the Latin VI Advanced Placement course students will gain an appreciation for the epic poetry of Vergil’s Aeneid and Caesar’s De Bello Gallico. Students will read selected portions of Aeneid and De Bello Gallico in English. This course provides students with the necessary skills to translate the selected text, read aloud Latin verse in meter, analyze stylistic technique, and interpret the authors’ intent through word choice, syntax and mythological allusions. An exploration of the pertinent history and mythology is also incorporated into this class. Students continue to broaden vocabulary. Students have the opportunity to take the Latin Advanced Placement examination for possible college credit.

Students will read selected passages from books 1, 2, 4, and 6 of the Aeneid, and books 1, 4, 5, and 6 of De Bello Gallico.
