    WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE MUSIC ROOM?

     All students in grades K-5 receive music instruction twice weekly for thirty minutes. 

    Our General Music program is based on the Loudoun County Elementary Music Curriculum, which is aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning. The five strands are:
       1. Music Theory/Literacy
       2. Performance
       3. Music History & Cultural Context
       4. Analysis, Evaluation, & Critique
       5. Aesthetics

     Assessments in General Music are standards-based and performance-based. The following key should be used to indicate a student’s acquisition of skills and content taught, effort exhibited, and demonstration of appropriate behavior and safe practices:
    4/E – Exceeds Standard
    3/M – Meets Standard
    2/P – Progressing Towards Standard
    1/B – Below Standard  

    The following performance opportunities are available to our students this year: 
    Veterans Day Program - Fourth Grade
    Monday, November 11th at 9:00 a.m.
     Winter Sing-Along – All Students
    Friday, December 20th at 8:30 a.m.
     Second Grade Program
    Wednesday, March 25th at 9:00 a.m. & 6:00 p.m.

    Chorus
    Chorus is a singing ensemble open to all 4th and 5th grade students.
    Chorus will present two concerts at Tolbert this year:
    Winter Concert - Wednesday, December 11th at 1:45 p.m. & 6:00 p.m.
    Heritage Cluster Concert - Monday, January 27th at 7:00 p.m. (snow date Wednesday, January 29th)
    Harlem Globetrotters - Saturday, March 21st at 7:00 p.m. at Eagle Bank Arena
    Spring Concert - Wednesday, April 1st at 1:45 p.m. & 6:30 p.m.
