• About Ms. Longerbeam
      Ms. Longerbeam graduated from Shepherd College with a Bachelors in Therapeutic Recreation.  She worked for many years with the ARC, Association for Retarded Citizens as an Employment Specialist for adults with disabilities.  She earned her Masters in Education from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.   
    Ms. Longerbeam is certified in Specific Learning Disabilities.  She taught for 2 years at Apollo Middle school in Hollywood, Florida before moving to Winchester, Virginia where she taught for 10 years at Sherando High School.   This is her 11th year at Catoctin Elementary.
    Ms. Longerbeam's is the Responsive Instruction Coordinator for Catoctin Elementary.   LCPS developed a framework that addresses the needs of all students through RI which entails High Quality Instruction through Universal Screenings (Sept., January, & May) and during Power UP.  RI will focus on reading fluency and literacy (K - 5) and number sense (K-1) math fact fluency, math computation and math application (grades 2-5).
