Dear Belmont Station Families:
As we forge ahead into the second half of the school year, and prepare students to reach and exceed grade level expectations, now is also a time to for us to make revisions or set new goals for the remainder of the school year. Belmont Station teachers are talking with students about their academic goals, how to establish a plan, measure progress, and reflect on their accomplishments. It is an empowering process for students to realize how much they are in charge of their own learning. We have had Mother Nature on our side during the second quarter, and we hoping to maintain the necessary momentum to reach all of our goals, big and small!
As a staff, we will review the goals we set at the beginning of the school year in our School Improvement Plan. As you can imagine, we have high expectations for ourselves and our students. We will review the achievements we continue to make on a daily basis and will discuss our strategies for addressing any challenges.
During February, which is also considered the heart ♥ of the academic year, we also continue to include diversity and equity in our instructional program. This month, our children will learn about many of our founding fathers and the many contributions of famous African Americans. In conjunction with Black History Month activities, we will have a special daily broadcast on the Belmont Station Morning News Show highlighting a famous Black History person or event.
We are really looking forward to our fourth annual Reading with the STARs in early March! Please save the date for Thursday, March 1st, for students to come to Belmont Station for a read aloud from Belmont Station staff. You will soon be receiving further details about this wonderful school wide reading event!
Please plan to join us for any of our many February activities. Volunteering in the school and around the children will surely warm your heart.
