The school year is certainly off to a great start here at Belmont Station. When you visit the school, you will notice a quiet sense of determination and purpose. This is because our teachers and our students are taking their academic responsibilities seriously. Please help us provide the children with the most challenging and rewarding educational experience possible by supporting us in the following ways:

    • Be on time for school. Nothing starts the day off better than arriving on time. If your child rides the bus, please be sure he/she catches it every day. If your child is a walker or comes by private vehicle, please plan to arrive by 7:35. The children are not considered tardy until 7:50 but the extra fifteen minutes will insure on time arrival even when those last minute obstacles occur.
    • Come to school every day. Research has proven attendance does make a difference. Of course we do not want sick children to come to school, but being tired or in a bad mood are not excuses for missing a day of instruction. The whole class benefits when everyone is present.
    • Complete assignments. Please help the children understand completing their assignments is their responsibility. We want them to be really prepared when they move on to the next level of schooling and learning to turn in assignments completed and on time is an important element of preparation. All Belmont Station students have homework Monday through Thursday. Please check the folders and review completed homework each day with your child. If it is important to you, it will be important to them.
    • Read, Read, Read. The importance of reading cannot be overstated. Children who read for pleasure and information do better on all standardized tests from elementary school right through to the SATs. Please make reading a priority and set time aside each evening for family reading.

Finally, we ask you to remember to speak gently of the staff and the school, especially in front of the children and on social media. Their respect and appreciation is predicated on yours. Thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support for all of our programs. Have a great October!
