The Role of the Reading SpecialistThe primary responsibilities of the reading specialists are to support the school’s reading and writing programs through training, coaching, collaboration, co-teaching, and intervention. As trainers and coaches, they deliver various literacy based professional development to the staff and follow up with co-planning, observations, and reflective conferences. As a co-teacher, they work alongside staff in classrooms delivering whole class minilessons followed by individual or small group instruction to meet the needs of all students.
