The mission of this Library Media Program is to work with both staff and students to support the goals and objectives of Ashburn Elementary School by providing access to information resources and services and promoting excitement about reading. We will also strive to create a community of users who are information literate by helping students and faculty learn to locate and evaluate information as well as apply it responsibly.
Kindergarteners may check out one book and may keep that book for one week.
First and second graders may check out two books and may keep them for one week.
Third, fourth, and fifth graders may check out three books and may keep them for one week.
There are no fines for overdue books. Students may not exceed the allotted number of books allowed to students in their grade level, therefore, every time a student returns a book they may check out a new one. Overdue reminders will be sent home when students have books that are more than a few weeks overdue.
Fines for Lost Books:
If a student loses a book, that student may pay for the book in order to reinstate borrowing privileges. The librarian will provide a price for the book and the student may pay the library by check (made out to Ashburn Elementary) or cash.
If the book is located after payment has been made, a refund may be given. A refund will not be given if a replacement book has already been purchased.
PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO FIND LIBRARY BOOKS BEFORE PAYING FOR THEM!
