Behind the Wheel Procedures
Students must have completed an approved classroom driver's education course, hold a valid Virginia learner's permit and have completed a minimum of 45 hours of driving with a parent or guardian with 15 of those hours taking place after sunset. Checks should be made payable to Briar Woods High School in the amount of $225 or CLICK HERE to pay online.
All forms (except for the COVID forms) should be submitted to the school counseling office. COVID forms will be submitted to your in-car instructor.
Loudoun County Public Schools is prepared to resume Behind the Wheel (BTW) instruction the week of September 21, 2020. BTW through LCPS is an optional service that is affordable and accessible for families whose child is seeking a Driver’s License.
Since in-car instruction is a high-risk activity due to the inability to meet social distancing requirements, instructors and families should consider any of their own personal high-risk conditions prior to participation.
Instructors and participants will follow COVID-mitigation strategies based off guidance from CDC, VDH, VDOE, and LCPS Pupil Services.
