The Loudoun County Grading Scale is used to assign grades to student work. The scale is found below. Student assignments will be marked Formative (check learning) and Summative ( recorded grade).
Student work is assessed in many ways. The categories of grading used in 6th Grade Language Arts are: “Classwork”, “Homework”, “Quizzes”, and “Assessments and Projects”. This variety of activities provides students with many opportunities to demonstrate knowledge of the state Standards of Learning (SOLs).School-wide Retake Policy

Assignments completed outside the classroom (projects, reports, homework, writing, etc.) are a necessary part of the educational program. In order for students to be successful, this work needs to be completed on time.
6th grade Language Arts Late Work Policy:
In order to earn full credit for an assignment, work must be turned in completed and on time. If an assignment is not turned in due to an excused absence, the student is expected to turn the assignment in during the next class meeting. Late assignments will receive a 10 point deductionper day and will only be accepted for five days after the due date. After the fifth day, the maximum a student will be able to receive is a 50. Students who do not turn in an assignment on the due date will be referred to the BUSS (Boosting Up Student Success) program and stay in ASD (After School Detention) until the assignment is completed.
