Expunging a Grade
When students take a high school credit course during middle school, LCPS allows for students to expunge that grade and credit if they are not satisfied with their final grade. High School Credit Bearing courses available at River Bend Middle School include:
- Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2/Trig.
- French, German, Latin, Spanish, and Spanish for Fluent Speakers (levels 1 and 2)
- Technology of Robotic Design
Not ALL middle school students take a high school credit bearing course, and most will not need to expunge the grade if they have taken one.
If you/your child, are not satisfied with the FINAL AVERAGE in a high school credit bearing course taken while in middle school in Loudoun County, you will need to fill out the form below and return it to your child's counselor within on month following the final report card.
Again, ONLY final averages are the ones reported on a high school transcript. If you choose to expunge the grade and credit, this course will not show on a high school transcript, it will not be factored into your child’s GPA, and your child will need to re-take the course if they want to earn the credit for it.
The opportunity to expunge a high school credit grade only exist while in middle school, until one month after the final report card. They will not have this opportunity in high school.
Please contact your child's counselor with questions.
