• Ms. Carter's Biography

I graduated from East Tennessee State University with a B. S. and a M. A. in mathematics and education.  I am beginning my 40th year of teaching.  My teaching experience includes teaching for the University School (ETSU), Kingsport City Public Schools, Northeast State Technical University, and Loudoun County Public Schools.  I am beginning my 26th year of teaching at PFHS.

I live in the Cascades Community.  I have two sons that have graduated from Potomac Falls High School.  My oldest son graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in aerospace engineering.  My youngest son graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in electrical engineering.

I enjoy the teaching profession and have a love of mathematics.  It is my desire to have students in my classroom develop a joy for mathematics.  Students can expect to have work every day in my classroom and have an assignment to complete/review.  Part of my philosophy of teaching mathematics is for students to be able to answer "why" and "how" of solving equations and apply these concepts to problem-solving.  This is when true learning has taken place.
