Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Christina Schmitt

I am a graduate of George Mason University holding a Bachelor’s in Health Sciences & Recreational Therapy and a Master’s degree in Education Leadership and Administration.  During my 21 years in the education field, I have worked as a  high school biology teacher, assistant principal at the middle and high school program specialist supporting students with emotional disabilities, special education dean and most recently special education dean of non-traditional schools.

In my role as  special education dean, I work to support and guide teachers in the IEP development, serve as the designee in IEP meetings as well as work collaboratively with teachers, staff and the administrative team to oversee  the progress of students. This is to ensure fidelity of implementation of goals, services and accommodations as well as monitor to ensure we are adhering to  federal, state and county guidelines. I look forward to working with each of the MCCS families in a collaborative and inclusive manner to ensure access to the curriculum to achieve MCCS success.

I own a life coaching business focused on executive functioning and emotional support. In my spare time, I am a mom to a 4 legged fury kiddo and enjoy being outdoors seaglassing, traveling, hiking & kayaking as well as making coastal decor.
