Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Sarah Brissing

Sarah Brissing, a native of Middleburg, has three lovely daughters with her husband Larry.  Her teaching license (K-6th grade) is from Hollins University.  While attending Hollins, she majored in Interdisciplinary Studies and minored in Mathematics.  At Shenandoah University, Sarah earned her Master's Degree in Reading, complemented by a Reading Specialist endorsement.  Sarah is a teacher with 19 years of experience both within LCPS and the home.  For two years, Sarah became a homeschool pod leader and a private tutor. Prior to that experience she taught kindergarten for twelve years and fifth grade for three years at Banneker. It is her desire to cultivate learning experiences and wonder for students using literature, music, art, science, and movement. Outside of teaching, she enjoys quality time with her daughters and family.  She is also very active in the community. She is thrilled to be back at Banneker and to support the literacy needs of Banneker students through collaboration with classroom teachers and explicit, systematic reading intervention support for students.
