Loudoun County Public Library

LCPL Connection

  • The American Library Association (ALA) states that public library programs offer opportunities for promoting school-readiness skills in children and creating positive associations with books (ala.org). The ALA also states that there is a positive and statistically significant relationship between children’s services in public libraries and reading success at school. The Catoctin Elementary Library is going to be making a stronger effort to collaborate with the Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) this year to promote programs that are available through LCPL. We believe that a stronger connection with LCPL will increase the participation of our students in programs that are hosted by LCPL that would benefit our students academically and socially.

The first step in this collaboration will be to get our students here at Catoctin Elementary to obtain their own library card from the LCPL. If your child has their own LCPL card, please fill out and sign the confirmation slip at the bottom of the page.  If your child does not already have their own library card, you may sign your child up to receive a card at any LCPL branch (adults over 18 years of age can register online). When your child has obtained their library card, please fill out the confirmation slip and return it to Mr. Shannon in the Catoctin Elementary Library. Students who return their confirmation slip will receive a free book!
