Ms. Biesecker

Dear Trailblazers,

My name is Brittany Biesecker and I am thrilled to be returning as Discovery Elementary's librarian for my 8th year! I am a 2015 graduate of Longwood University's M.Ed. in School Librarianship program. Before that, I graduated from Hollins University with a B.A. in English and Communication Studies.

I aim to bring a 21st-century model to the Discovery Library and continue to facilitate a successful, collaborative program. I strive to maintain a school library that is a hub of learning - a place for all students to think, create, share and grow. I believe that the library is the heart of the school.

I live in Leesburg with my fiancee and our menagerie of pets: a black lab (Apollo), a tuxedo cat (Smudge), two ferrets (Ramona and Baby), and a leopard gecko (Honey). I am passionate about children's books and illustrations, emerging trends and technology, project-based learning, graphic novels, and assisting reluctant readers. Finding that "just right" book for every child and making them EXCITED about reading is my goal! My interests outside of librarianship include traveling, gardening, crafts, and getting lost in local bookstores.

Sincerely,

Ms. Biesecker (Ms. B)

This is my 9th year at Discovery. Before working in the library, I assisted in preschool for 5 years. I am very excited about being your library assistant again this year. I love books!
