Mrs. Akers

Hello, Emerick Eagles!

I am so excited about being at Emerick Elementary School again this year!  It is hard for me to believe but this is my 20th year of teaching and my second year here at Emerick.  My teaching career began in Warren County in 2004 and I then joined Loudoun County Public Schools in 2017.  I have been both a general education teacher and a special education teacher and have worked with all grade levels from kindergarten through sixth grade.

I grew up in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and earned both my Bachelor of Science (Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies) and Master of Education (Exceptional/Special Education) degrees from James Madison University.  Go Dukes!!  I have also achieved National Board Certification in the area of Exceptional Education.

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  I am blessed to be married to my best friend and we have the most adorable, amazing kids (though I may be a little biased!) - Grayson, who turned seven over the summer and will be in 2nd grade this year, and Addilynn, who will turn 3 at the end of September.  When time allows, I also enjoy visiting new places, eating delicious food, and going for a nice long walk.

I look forward to working with Emerick’s students, families, and staff again this year.  By working together, we will see our students grow as human beings and as learners to do amazing things.

Let's spread kindness and make this a great year!  Let the journey begin!
