Mrs. Sally Durant

Welcome CRE Red Wing Scholars and Families to Music! My name is Sally Durant, and I am delighted to join our amazing school and music team!

I have always loved music! Music transcends, heals, cultivates empathy and expression, and, best of all, brings people together. I was privileged to not only perform in great ensembles and symphonies, but begin my teaching career at a young age. I continued my journey by obtaining a degree in Music Performance on Viola from the University of Texas at Arlington. It was there that I also started to compose music, which later drove me to achieve my Masters in Composition from the University of Maryland. During all those years and beyond, I was always intertwined with my true passion for education. I have taught at the university level all the way through our youngest scholars, and I was even a Principal/Director at several local private schools for over eight years. 

When not at school, I enjoy being with my family (which consists of a Navy husband, four kiddos, two silver labs, and even a house chicken), taking my children to wrestling tournaments all over the country, or building our family cabin in the Shenandoah!
