LCPS Mobile Health Clinic

The Mobile Health Clinic provides free physicals for students entering LCPS.  The Mobile Health Clinic is not able to provide sports physicals.  

The LCPS Mobile Health Clinic can help ensure your child has the healthcare support they need to enroll in school! The Mobile Health Clinic, which is supported by a partnership with INOVA and George Washington University School of Nursing, provides uninsured students enrolling in LCPS for the first time with access to required school physicals and wellness checks. Clinic staff can also provide referrals to community partners offering comprehensive medical care.

What is the Mobile Bus? Who runs it? Is it free?

• The Mobile Health Clinic is supported by LCPS’s initiative to support Title 1 Community Schools in partnership with Inova Loudoun Hospital and George Washington University School of Nursing.

• The Mobile Health Clinic prioritizes students who are uninsured, do not have a medical home, and attend an LCPS Community School (Sterling, Sully, Sugarland, Rolling Ridge, Forest Grove, and Guilford Elementary Schools).

• The Mobile Health Clinic provides free school physicals and annual wellness checks to all LCPS students.

• The Mobile Health coordinator, Ms. Elisa, assists with the registration process.   

• School entrance physicals will be completed by our Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Kristina. Dr. Kristina also oversees the school health offices in LCPS’ Title 1 Schools in the Sterling district.

• George Washington University’s nursing students, nurse practitioner students, and Inova nurses provide nursing support on the bus.

• No appointment is required. We can see up to 6 or 7 students per session. 

• If slots are full for the session, you will be placed on a “Preferred List” for the next scheduled session.  You need to arrive at the mobile clinic during the first 10 minutes of that clinic’s session to ensure that your time slot is confirmed. 

• Spanish interpreters are present to assist during registration and physical exam process. 
  
  

 What is a school entrance physical?

• School entrance physicals are required by the Virginia Code for every kindergarten student and any elementary students who are new to the United States.

• A parent or legal guardian who is the primary caretaker should accompany the child.  A signed consent is required before clinic staff can proceed with the physical.

• Medical and social history is pertinent for conducting a comprehensive physical exam.

• School entrance physicals involve an assessment of the student’s emotional, developmental, and physical well-being and how those factors can impact the student’s participation in the school setting. The Mobile Health Clinic does not provide sports physicals.

• Immunization records will be assessed to identify missing vaccines. Hearing and vision screenings will also be performed. Vaccinations are not provided at the Mobile Health Clinic.

• The physical exam takes about 30-45 minutes. A completed physical form copy will be provided.

• Tuberculosis testing, vaccines, and lead testing (necessary for Head Start enrollment) are not offered.
  
  

What should I do while I wait for the next Mobile Health Bus session?

• Call the Health Department to schedule a TB Screening at 703-777-0236.  This is the first step if you are new to the country.
  
  

Remember the three requirements to start school after you complete the registration: physical exam, proof of completed state-mandated vaccines, and TB clearance!
