Welcome to Woodgrove High School Color Guard!

  • The Woodgrove Color Guard is a part of the Woodgrove Marching Wolverines Marching Band program. The Color Guard or “Guard” is also known as the Visual Ensemble for the competitive show they prepare. Through movement, equipment and character work, they help bring the music to life visually. The Guard starts working in April to prepare for the fall marching season, which includes summer rehearsals. The fall season starts in August and goes until early November.
    Who Can Join Color Guard?
Any 8th grader through high school senior who is interested in dance, performance, and being part of a dynamic and positive team. No experience is necessary, just a positive attitude and great work ethic.

Fall 2019 Color Guard Auditions are Tuesday, May 28 from 6:00-9:15pm at the Mountain View ES Gym. No experience necessary. Equipment is provided. Attire: Fitted clothing you can move in. Nothing baggy or with a hood. No jeans/khakis/skirts. Sneakers or dance shoes, please.
Color Guard training starts in April for the fall season. We hold Technique Class on Tuesdays/Thursdays. These classes are not required, but they are a good way to become acquainted with what color guard is. Auditions are held in May, with Clinics being held prior to help prepare those auditioning. Once the Guard has been auditioned, we have mandatory summer mini-camps before Guard Camp (usually the last week in July). Then Band Camp through August. Information will be posted throughout the school and here on our website.
How Do I Get Involved if I’m Not Yet a Woodgrove Student?
The Harmony Middle School Color Guard Club is a way for younger students to become introduced to color guard. This is an after-school activity that meets once a week starting in November and goes through May. Any middle school student is eligible to participate. Details will be posted at Harmony MS and here on our website.
What is the Color Guard Rehearsal and Performance Schedule?
In the fall, the Color Guard rehearses Tuesdays and Thursdays, with some Wednesday and Friday rehearsals. The marching band perform at all home Varsity Football games. We compete in marching band competitions for on Saturdays, with occasional Sunday competitions when it can’t be avoided. We also participate in several local holiday parades.
Why Should I Join the Color Guard?
Being a part of the Guard means making lifelong friends, belonging within a team, and becoming a part of a group that is supportive and caring. These ensembles don’t just teach how to spin a flag; they teach life lessons, such as teamwork, communication, and goal-oriented hard work.
We hope you come and join us!
