• FHS UMHT Social-Emotional Learning Initiative

The Freedom High School Unified Mental Health Team (UMHT) created the Social-Emotional Learning Initiative in the spring of 2020, in response to the increasing needs of families during the global pandemic. The mission of the Social-Emotional Learning Initiative was to increase parent, student, and teacher knowledge, comfort level, and application of strategies related to social-emotional learning. The Social-Emotional Learning Initiative began as an effort to expand UMHT's reach to the entire school. The Social-Emotional Learning Initiative was originally implemented to help support student's mental health and education during distance learning. The FHS UMHT has continued to deliver presentations to families and staff as students transitioned back into the school building in the 2021-2022 school year.

The FHS UMHT has delivered presentations on the following topics:

    • Developing Self-Discipline, Self-Control, and Motivation
    • Substance Use in Teens and Mental Health
    • Promoting Student Engagement in a Distance Learning Environment
    • Coping with Anxiety/Distress Tolerance
    • Overcoming the Mid-Year Slump
    • Prioritizing Self-Care
    • Boost Your Emotional IQ: Emotional Regulation Strategies for Staff
