Fall 2022 - Secondary School Attendance Zone Process
December 13, 2022 School Board Adopted Secondary School Attendance Zone Plan
On December 13, 2022, the Loudoun County School Board adopted changes to certain Eastern Loudoun, Ashburn and Central Loudoun middle and high school attendance zones. The attendance zone changes will take effect in fall 2023, with the start of the 2023-2024 school year. Individual middle school and high school attendance zone maps have also been updated to reflect the adopted changes for the 2023-2024 school year.
Attendance zone changes were adopted for the following areas:
- Secondary school students living in Planning Zones EL36.1 and EL36.2 (including the Kincora community) will be zoned to Belmont Ridge Middle School and Riverside High School beginning fall 2023.
- Secondary school students living in Planning Zones CL32 and CL32.2 (including the Oaklawn community) and Planning Zone CL32.1 (including the East Stratford and Stratford Club communities) will be zoned to Harper Park Middle School and Heritage High School beginning fall 2023.
- Secondary school students living in Planning Zone CL06 (including the Colts Run, Ketocktin Farm Estates, Roxbury Heights and Shenstone communities) and Planning Zone CL24 (including the Church & Market, Crescent Place and King Street Station communities) will be zoned to Smart's Mill Middle School and Tuscarora High School beginning fall 2023.
- Planning zone DN10.2, which has no resident LCPS students, will be zoned to Trailside Middle School and Stone Bridge High School beginning fall 2023.
No changes were made to the current Seneca Ridge Middle School/Dominion High School, River Bend Middle School/Potomac Falls High School and Farmwell Station Middle School/Broad Run High School attendance zones.
If you are not sure what LCPS planning zone you reside in, use the LCPS Attendance Boundary E-Listing for your home address and select 'Current School Year.'
School Board Policy 8160, Exceptions to School Assignment Due To Attendance Zone Change, does provide options for rising grade eight students who will be assigned to another middle school in the fall, as well as rising juniors and rising seniors who will be assigned to another high school in the fall, to potentially remain at their currently zoned school. More information will be sent directly to the identified families in mid-January 2023 from LCPS Planning & GIS Services staff.
Send an email with any questions about the adopted middle and high school attendance zone changes.

Attendance Zone Plans Under Active Consideration by the School Board, as of November 18, 2022
The School Board is scheduled to adopt secondary school attendance zone changes on December 13, 2022. Any adopted attendance zone changes will take effect in fall 2023, with the start of the 2023-2024 school year. At the December 13 School Board meeting, the Board will entertain motions for adoption and/or modification to a plan under active consideration by the School Board. Any effort to bring another plan before the Board will require a suspension of the rules and the requisite two-thirds vote of the School Board members present in order to do so; however, motions to amend a plan may be entertained when the issue is taken up as an Action Item on December 13 and can be adopted with a simple majority vote.

LCPS-Virginia Tech Partnership: Redistrict
Virginia Tech's Sanghani Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics is a research and educational unit that focuses on using big data science to address, inform and solve complex projects.
Virginia Tech graduate students have developed a data platform (Redistrict) for public use during this Eastern Loudoun, Ashburn and Central Loudoun area secondary school attendance zone change process; the site will provide the same data posted on this webpage, including student counts by planning zone and school capacity information.
With Redistrict, users can understand how proposed changes affect people in each neighborhood, create and share plans and/or ideas with others during the process, as well as review and comment on plans prepared by neighbors and other participants.
The goal of Redistrict is to provide users with an in-depth analysis of the data with the expectation that by informing parents and community members of considerations and other demands during the planning process, the public will have a more clear understanding of the attendance zone plans being reviewed and discussed by the Loudoun County School Board.
