    What is it and why does my child take it?

    The Standards of Learning (SOL) for Virginia Public Schools establish minimum expectations for what students should know and be able to do at the end of each grade or course in English, mathematics, science, history/social science and other subjects.

     

    What do I need to know?

    In elementary school, grades 3-5 take a reading and math SOL.  Grade 4 also takes a Virginia Studies SOL.  Grade 5 also takes a science SOL. For more information, please visit the VDOE website.
