This year will be my fourth as an EL teacher, and my second as an itinerant teacher at Discovery. I am looking forward to be spending my afternoons here at Discovery Elementary, and my mornings at Dominion Trail Elementary.
While my undergraduate degree is in Economics from Denison University, I started my teaching path in 2016 first as a substitute, and then as a kindergarten assistant teacher. My love of working with students led me to Shenandoah's Career Switcher program in 2020, where I became licensed to teach English Learners. My experience in Spain as a study abroad student in college helped me to understand some of the challenges for students who speak a language other than English in their home. This year I am fortunate to move up with my third grade students from last year to fourth grade!
I live in Ashburn with my husband, three teenage children, our two dogs and two cats. I love to read, play volleyball, do DIY home projects and foster cats through a local shelter.
My goal as a teacher is to make learning fun for my students, and to find ways to get them excited about coming to school. I can't wait to celebrate all our successes this year!
